Projects and Plans

In 2016 CPC implemented 5 ongoing and 2 new investment projects, with a total budget of NT$ 19.4 billion , intended to create competitive edge and improve its environmental credentials. Here is a brief introduction to the 3 major projects:

1. Taichung LNG plant phase II expansion

To meet increasing demand for natural gas by Taipower and to enhance the stability of natural gas supplies in Taiwan, CPC is expanding its second LNG Receiving Terminal and related facilities at Taichung Harbor. The project will cost NT$18.5 billion and is scheduled for completion by December 2018.

2. The third LNG Receiving Terminal

To meet increasing demand for natural gas by Taipower and industrial and commercial consumers in northern Taiwan, CPC is building its third LNG Receiving Terminal . The project will cost NT$60.1 billion and is scheduled for completion by December 2025.

3. Phase 1 Distillation Package

The overall purpose of this project is to consolidate CPC’s market share in petroleum products and petrochemicals. The scope consists of a 150,000 bpd topping unit and related distillate hydrotreaters at the Dalin refinery; these are mainly intended to improve both their crude oil handling capacity and refining performance and thus boost Dalin’s ability to supply naphtha feedstock. The project will cost NT$20.5 billion and completion is expected by June 2017.
