To create a competitive edge and better environmental quality, CPC is implementing 14 ongoing investment projects with a total amount of NT$17.4 billion in 2009. A brief introduction of major projects is as follows:
1. Northern LNG Receiving Terminal Project
To meet the increasing demands of natural gas for the Taipower Company, and industrial & commercial sectors in the northern part of Taiwan, CPC is building an LNG Receiving Terminal with related facilities in Taichung Harbor. The project will cost NT$31.4 billion and is scheduled for completion by December 2009.
2. Alkylation Unit Project
To comply with environmental regulations and to upgrade gasoline quality, CPC will set up an alkylation unit with a capacity of 14,000 BPSD. As a result, CPC will enjoy stronger competitiveness in both domestic and export markets. Due for being completed by December 2011, it will cost NT$9.5 billion.
3. RFCC Unit Project
To streamline refinery configuration and boost value-added profiles, CPC is building an RFCC (Residue Fluid Catalytic Cracking) unit with a capacity of 80,000 BPSD, along with related facilities. The total investment stands at NT$38.9 billion and is expected to come on stream by June 2012.
4. No. 6 Naphtha Cracker Project
To fulfill the gap of ethylene demand by the local petrochemical industry, and install state-of-the-art technology, CPC plans to construct a naphtha cracker with an annual capacity of 600 thousand metric tons of ethylene. The project will cost NT$46.9 billion and is set to be completed by December 2012.
