The first of CPC’s smart green gas stations to deploy multiple power supply and storage systems went operational on February 14 at the Cianfong Road site in Tainan city. It differs from an earlier prototype, the Xinyi Road location in Chiayi city powered by only solar energy, by integrating the output from rooftop solar panel arrays with that from fuel cells using natural gas as their feedstock. These two systems are backed up by the Taipower grid. Similarly, both vanadium flow and lithium titanate batteries form the basis of two types of storage system, an arrangement that delivers better scheduling of power release during peak and trough consumption periods and which also helps conserve energy.
