On July 7, 2021, CPC Corporation, Taiwan and Qatar Petroleum signed a 15-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) to secure a stable supply of natural gas to Taiwan. In this SPA deal, CPC Corporation, Taiwan will purchase 1.25 million tonnes per annum of LNG from Qatar Petroleum over a 15-year period, starting in 2022. The SPA was signed during a virtual ceremony by His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum, and the Acting Chairman of CPC, Shun-Chin Lee.
